The foam that is produced from expandable polystyrene resins is closed cell, lightweight, and rigid which makes it suitable for a variety of applications. The process of converting EPS resins requires three main stages: Pre-expansion, Maturation and molding.
The purpose of pre-expansion is to produce foam particles of the desired density for a specific application. During pre-expansion, the EPS beads are fed to a vessel containing an agitator and controlled steam and air supplies, this vessel is called EPS Pre-expander.
Maturation serves several purposes:
-Allows the vacuum that was created within the cells of the foam particles during pre-expansion to reach equilibrium with the surrounding atmospheric pressure.
-Permits residual moisture on the surface of the prepuff to evaporate
The purpose of molding is to fuse the foam particles together in to a single foam part that meets the requirements. Moulding of EPS styrofoam may follow several sequences:
- Fill the EPS Block molding machine with expanded beads
- Heat the EPS mould by steam
- Cool the expandable polystyrene beads by air or EPS Vacuum cooling system.
- Eject the finished product from the mold cavity.
EPS Pre-expander is a machine for EPS beads expansion. It can heat and expand EPS particles to form foamed materials. Since the EPS foaming machine is a high-speed machine, its maintenance work is particularly important.
-Check pressure and temperature gauges every day. The pressure gauge and temperature gauge of the EPS pre-expander machine are also important parts of the machine. They can reflect the operating status of the machine. Regularly checking the pressure gauge and temperature gauge can detect machine faults in time and avoid serious machine failures.
- Bearings need to be filled with grease every month
- Clean the steam chamber every six months
- Replace sealing ring every year. The sealing ring is an important part of the machine, which plays a sealing role. If the sealing ring is aged or damaged, it will affect the foaming effect and service life of the machine. Therefore, regular replacement of sealing rings is necessary.
Attention
- Avoid long-term idling of the machine
When using the EPS foaming machine, avoid idling the machine for a long time. Long-term idling will cause wear and tear on the machine's parts and affect the service life of the machine.
- During maintenance, the operator must shut off the power supply and hang “maintenance” warning!
EPS Machine installation time depends on the buyer's cooperation. We dispatch one engineer to buyer’s factory, providing installation instruction, test run and operation training. Normally it will take about 15~20 days for machine piping work, electricity distribution, etc. And about 2-3 day for test run and 7 day for training.
